The club hosts several cycling events every year. many are at Herne Hill Velodrome, and we organise AN ANNUAL CYCLOcross RACE and AUDAX too. We also run a hill climb competition, CRIT RACE and time trial for members. Some key highlights include…
Supermadison
Since the early 2000s, we have hosted the annual Brixton Super Madison at Herne Hill Velodrome. The day culminates in the Rob Jefferies Super Madison Trophy, a 50 lap Madison points race. There’s nothing quite like Madison racing, with riders hand-slinging their partner into the race at high speeds. It has everything: skill, endurance, sprinting… the lot!
The event is unique in that, besides Madison, it also includes National Sprinters League races and a full programme of endurance races for men and women. It is always a packed and exciting day and a much-loved feature of the local track racing calendar.
Previously we have had such great athletes race as Laura Trott, Robert Fosterman (and many more big names) compete — the Supermad is truly our flagship event.
Omnium and Dernyfest
For several years now we’ve run separate men’s and women’s Omnium & Dernyfest events at Herne Hill Velodrome. We want to create equal opportunities for everyone to have a go and race and are proud to be able to do so!
An omnium is a perfect mix of bunch races and solo efforts, and then there’s the thrilling sights and sounds of derny racing: riders whizzing round the track, drafting motorised derny bikes at superhuman speeds (50km/h and beyond)!
LONDON & South EAST
CYCLOCROSS LEAGUE RACE
Every September we host an edition of the London and South East Cyclocross League in Crystal Palace Park. The race is hugely popular: we often see between 450-600 racers competing across categories from under 8 years old to over 50!
Cyclocross is hugely inclusive and provides a great atmosphere for spectators and racers alike. It’s also one of the events we rely on lots of volunteers for - so if you prefer marshalling in a snazzy BCC hi-viz to tearing it up on the trails, you certainly can do that!

FAST TIMES IN THE HIGH WEALD AUDAX
Since 2022 we’ve hosted an annual 200km audax that weaves its way through the stunning medieval landscapes of Kent and Sussex. Open to all, it is a challenging event with around 3,000m of climbing. But with a range of groups going out, there will always be the chance to take the ride at your own pace and meet some new riders along the way too.
The route heads as far south as Battle before heading north across the picturesque Ashdown Forest and then back into London, finishing at Herne Hill Velodrome. With a mix of checkpoints, varied landscapes and many refreshment stops along the way, it always promises to be memorable.

Hill climb &
hillapocalypse
The hill climb is our end-of-season party for members, with a timed struggle against the clock up a big hill just outside London. Bacon / vegan sandwiches at the top, then awards in a pub back in town after.
We also organise an annual Hillapocalypse: a jaunt up some climbs in north London, directly followed by the same in south London. 100km, 2,000m of climbing, with a much-needed feed stop halfway. All in all, a fun day out!
