Meet our Committee

With over 300 members, BCC is an ever-growing community. We have a committee responsible for the day-to-day running of the club, ensuring we uphold our Club Values and that the club continues to always create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members. Meet the 2024 Committee below.

  • Millar Maxwell

    CLUB SECRETARY

I joined Brixton in 2020 after my original riding gang kind of disbanded and I wasn't doing a great job of taking myself out for a spin and I was interested in racing some time trials and some cyclocross. Brixton seemed like the perfect balance of friendly support and competition and that has proved to be very true. As club sec im looking to make cycling an accesible pastime for anyone who is interested in finding some personal challenge from riding or racing with a community of friendly folks. If you're into or are interested in doing a timetrial hit me up, always keen to get into aero nerdery.

  • Rosie Day

    SOCIAL SECRETARY

From my first intro ride in 2019 and the following hours spent in the pub, I immediately resonated with the riding : social ratio. I loved the mix of riding options depending on my flavour of the month. I dabble in most disciplines, and am racing road and cyclocross. Look out for Brixmas, the Hill Climb and other socials to fill your off-the-bike boots.

  • Carl Yaxley

    COMMUNICATION SECRETARY

I was recommended Brixton Cycles Club by a friend (who's now part of BCC!) who'd heard Brixton was both sociable and had good cycling culture! I've been here for about a year riding mainly road rides and have had an absolute blast... all whilst meeting some great people. See you in the pub?

  • Helen Bakie

    JOINT TREASURER

After buying a road bike to commute on post lockdown I did some longer rides and eventually the Hebridean Way. Was really keen to do more so thought joining a club was a good idea and had a friend in BCC. Was one of the best decisions I ever made, such a lovely community to be a part of and I've tried so many new things and made new friends.

  • Oliver Gin

    JOINT TREASURER

I joined BCC in 2018. I heard that BCC was friendly and didn't take itself too seriously; I wasn't disappointed! I was a roadie and picked up track after joining the club; the loaner bikes really helped! I became joint Treasurer because I just love a good spreadsheet.

  • Chris Humphrys

    MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY

I got my current bike in the Cycle to Work scheme, a month before lockdown. It's never quite made it to work, but it got me out exploring and I joined Brixton post-pandemic as soon as I could get a spot on an Intro ride. I've not looked back since...I love having an amazing gang of people to ride with, and the chance to to try new things and discover new routes. I'll be doing my best to get as many new riders as possible out and about with us across 2024!

  • Emma Anderson

    MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY

I joined BCC in 2021 after moving locally and wanting to find a friendly club to ride with. I never anticipated that the club would have such a lovely impact on my life and love of cycling; friendly, fun and encouraging! Joining the committee as one of the Membership secretaries- I'd really like to ensure this welcoming feeling is encouraged to all new joiners.

  • Jack Thomas

    ROAD RACE & TRACK SECRETARY

I joined Brixton in 2019 after feeling left out of the fun the BCC lot were having without me at Herne Hill Velodrome. Brixton have always hit the sweet spot between riding seriously but also seeing the fun side of cycling; both during and after - be it racing or casual club runs.

My role as RR & track secretary largely involves organising our annual criterium champs, track events and ad hoc track bookings at Lee Valley.

  • Mollie Little

    TRACK SECRETARY

I joined BCC just over two years ago. You'll mostly catch me at the track, very rarely on a club run but more likely on a special ride like the solstice, black history month ride or annual hill climb. I've had a go at cx racing and crit racing too! I'm mostly just trying my best, having fun and trying to encourage more women to race all disciplines, but most importantly, at the track!

  • Edwin Matthews

    SHOP LIAISON

After learning to ride a bicycle during lockdown, I very quickly got hooked and wanted to join a club. My closest club was Brixton and having grown up in the area there was no one else I wanted to ride for. I love representing the club and I am proud to be wearing the colours. It’s an important statement of representing the community I’ve grown up in. I’ve met some amazing friends in the club and looking forward to the rest of my cycling adventure!

  • Wayne Blythe

    CLUB KIT & SHOP LIAISON

I joined Brixton Cycles in 2005 after getting into charity rides and wanted to do more. The shop was local to me and El Pres invited me along to a club run! The rest is sweet sweet history and I now classify myself as one of the old school. I have seen the club go from 10 lovely people to now 300+ lovely likeminded riders. I have seen the club kit go from strength to strength too and feel very privileged to be part of the decision-making with the shop in its iterations and various kit suppliers over the past few years. I am also the creator of South Hills, Hillapocalypse and a devoted annual attendee to RVC. I simply love cycling and this club!

  • Nikki Ray

    DIVERSITY & INCLUSION OFFICER

I joined BCC in 2021 after deciding I wanted to join a cycling club and thought joining my local club made sense. What drew me in was the representation of women in the club and the friendly relaxed approach of most, not taking themselves too seriously.

  • Ryan Curle

    ROAD CAPTAIN

I joined BCC in 2018 looking for a friendly club to ride with. It is a brilliant way to build some new connections based on a common interest that isn’t work-oriented! Alongside the other road captains I help with leading rides and responding to new member enquiries.

  • Zoë Lord

    ROAD CAPTAIN

I’ve been a member of BCC for just over two years now and my only regret is that I didn’t join earlier! What I love about this club is that there's scope for everything here - serious racing and hard riding, gentle pootling round the lanes, audaxes, rides out to the coast, off-road, I could go on - all inevitably ending at a pub or taproom. The sense of community and friendships I've made are what makes me proud of being a part of this club. This is my first year as a Road Captain and you can find me most Sunday mornings at Cafe St Germain either for the club ride or to lead an intro ride. Pints afterwards are a given.

  • Duncan Bryson

    ROAD CAPTAIN

I joined Brixton in 2016. I've been riding a bike pretty seriously for 25 years, almost always on road, now mainly club runs and touring, but in my younger years I raced a bit. I'm out most Sunday mornings on the club run, and enjoy posting routes. I'll be the one telling you how fit I used to be while persuading you to stay for another drink.

  • Mark Williams

    ROAD CAPTAIN

I have been a member since 2017 when I got bored of riding on my own and decided I liked the look of Brixton's kit. As one of the Road captains, I help organise our Sunday club rides, and to a lesser extent mid-week hills and laps - as well as other assorted one-off events. I'm generally to be found in the pub after rides, or at the back of the group when it gets hilly during them.

  • John Stevens

    ROAD CAPTAIN

I joined at the start of 2020 after recovering from getting knocked off my bike and seeing all the club riders in Canopy on Sundays re-hydrating. Having ridden regularly with friends for years it was great to join a club and be able ride with like minded cyclists. I mainly go to hills rides. Sunday club runs and have got into some longer sportives recently.
